Fumigation of Cargo in Quarantine and at Pre-Shipment

TPC has a long history of cargo fumigations, working along with the Plant Quarantine Division of the Ministry of Agriculture. We fumigate cargo using a range of gaseous insecticides, ventilate treated spaces, then provide all required certification of clearance. Cargo phytosanitation through fumigation is a statuary requirement for certain imports and exports.

ISPM 15 is an international phytosanitary measure developed by the International Plant Protection Convention (IPPC) that addresses the treatment wood materials used to ship products between countries. Its purpose is to prevent the transport and spread of disease and insects that could negatively affect plants or ecosystems. ISPM 15 affects all wood packaging material (pallets, crates, dunnages, etc.) requiring that they be either heat treated or fumigated with a specific gaseous insecticide, then branded with a mark of compliance.

Trinidad Pest Control Limited has been fully pre-certified as an ISPM 15 fumigator by the Plant Quarantine Division since 2006.

Subterranean Termite Treatment

Subterranean termites (reticuliterms) are clearly the most destructive pests to residential and commercial property. An established colony can severely damage structural wooden elements, flooring, even electrical wiring within six months of infestation. TPC is expertly equipped for soil treatment against subterranean termites involves either for driling and pumping termiticides into floor slabs already in place, or saturating foundations at the pre-construction stage. Either method usually requires our free on-site assessment.

Industrial Pest Control

Many food processors and distributors as well as heavy manufacturers are clients of Trinidad Pest Control. Services include the application of safe non-toxic treatments which conform to U.S. Government health standards. We also service many of the country’s leading hotels and entertainment venues.

Drywood Termite Treatment

TPC introduced to Trinidad a method of sealing and fumigating entire structures to kill Drywood termites. This can be done by two alternative methods. External fumigation is done by ‘tenting’ a building with purpose made gas impermeable tarpaulins, making it air-tight. Gaseous fumigant is then pumped into the building. Internal fumigation produces the same end result, but it involves sealing air vents, windows and doors from the inside.

Control of household Pests and Vermin

We offer one-off emergency as well as repetitive contract treatment for all known household and garden pests including roaches, ants, ticks, fleas, mole crickets, grasshoppers, frogs, bats, snakes, centipedes, scorpions, etc and of course rodents.  Services include treatment at interior infestation sources as well as yard spraying. Besides addressing visible adult pests, specific pesticides are sometimes applied the eggs and larvae of latent infestations.

Apart from the crawlers, TPC offers localized treatment against flying pests – mosquitoes, gnats and sand flies, etc. Since the effects of insect fogging tend to be temporary, these treatments tend to be very effective prior to outdoor events, stays at holiday homes, etc.

An alternative for controlling mosquitoes and flies is the use of automated aerosol dispensers. TPC is a preferred distributor of Time Mist® products and Konk® insecticide refills. Time Mist® units can also be fitted with a range of deodorizer aerosols. We deliver these products directly to customers’ homes or offices, and our representatives are pleased to advise on where to position the units.

Treatment of Boats

Our crews regularly service a wide range of vessels, both industrial and pleasure craft. Barges, tugs, etc are typically treated for roaches, rodents, etc. Sailing yachts and other boats are regularly fumigated externally and/or internally to control wood eating insects such as drywood termites and powder beetles.
